Center of a retinopathy of the prematurely born

AIMS:

In «NRCMCH» since 2011 the scientific project was started, including all steps of management of ROP: screening, diagnostic and treatment. We organized the inspections of all preterm infants in clinics in Astana. We try to use all the international experience in the treatment of children with ROP.

RESULTS:

As a consequence the percentage of detection of active ROP stages in "NRSMCH" reached 35%. If in 2012 in case of progression of the disease to ROP type 1, we had used the transpupillary green laser coagulation of avascular retina in 83 children, in 2013 - 63 children and 2014 - 82 baby.

In 2014 was the first experience of the combined treatment (intravitreal injection with anti-VEGF Avastin and green laser treatment). The result was good. Today, treated child has a satisfactory visual function. His neurological status is good but the respiratory problems continue.

In 2014, we organized the consulting room of ROP. There we examinate children after laser treatment and vitrectomy as well as inspect already treated children with disorders of the retina under anesthesia.

   Every year in the Center active stages of ROP are diagnosed for more than 500-600 children. For incomplete three years expeditious treatment with application of laser photocoagulation – the proved "gold standard" of treatment of RN to more than 230 children was carried out. According to supervision of specialist of the Center and for experience of many countries, the prematurely born newborn children (who aren't operated and operated at ROP of 1 type) in late terms have refraction violations, squint, an ambliopiya and other visual violations, and also pathology of a retina and an optic nerve. Prematurely born children need the qualified supervision in the specialized ophthalmologic center what the Center of a retinopathy prematurely born is.

Purpose of opening of the center: to promote decrease in level of a blindness and a slabovideniye because of a retinopathy prematurely born or other oftalmopatologiya of early age.

Main services:

Screening and diagnostics of ROP (by means of the pediatric retinal  RetCamShuttle chamber, the indirect headmounted ophtalmoscope).

Postoperative supervision (biomicroscopy, inspection of an eye bottom, definition of a refraction).

Ophthalmologic inspection of prematurely born children in late terms (research of visual functions, definition of neuroophthalmologic changes, research of structures of eyes, definition of a refraction, selection of points, MKL, etc.).

Ophthalmologic survey under anesthetic for children of early age (on type clinic of one day) with carrying out the following inspections:

• Biomicroscopy

• Measurement of intraocular pressure

• Gonioskopy

• Cycloscopy

• And - ultrasonic scanning
